How To Avoid Google Supplemental Index Results

AdSense Tips, Search Engine Optimization 3 Comments »

Google’s supplemental hell..err…index is a place you do not want your site to end up in. Google’s supplemental index is basically sites that Google feels are second rate, are duplicate content or just basically results that they do not like.

Supplemental results can still rank for some keywords but in most cases they will not show up for any searches that have a lot of results. They will only show up for very obscure queries. So, how do you avoid Google supplemental index?

The first step is to find out which of your sites pages are in the supplement results. To do this just do a search on Google for your site…

site:www.YourDomain.com

Then scroll through the results until you find pages that have “Supplemental Result” listed next to them. See picture below…

How to Get Out Of the Supplement Index

To help get your pages out of the supplemental index the first thing you want to do is to make sure that your pages do not have duplicate content. If you are using articles off article directories you could have problems with duplicate content.

However, the worst kind of duplicate content is inter-site duplicate content. You never want to have the same content on more than one page of your site. So make sure each page of your site have completely unique content.

Another culprit can be how you present your pages. All of the following lead to the same page: yoursite.com; www.yousite.com; www.yoursite.com/index.html. But they can be looked at as different pages by Google. Make sure to be consistent with how you present your pages. Pick one way and stick to it.

Next you need to start getting more links to any page that is listed in the Google’s supplemental results. Start using link directories, article submissions, swap links, whatever it takes.

However, in many cases links from your own site can do the trick also. Try linking from pages on your site that are not in the SI to pages that are in the SI. This will give some some extra PR juice and help them to look more relevant.

In many cases I have been able to easily pull pages out of Google’s supplemental index simply by linking to those pages from the homepage of my site. You homepage, in most cases, will have the most PageRank and by simply passing some on to the pages in your site that are in the SI you can pull them out.

Remember, that it will take some time to see results but sticking to these tips you should be able to avoid Google supplement index.

How To Get Links to Your AdSense Websites

Search Engine Optimization No Comments »

There are countless ways to get links to your AdSense websites. The 3 easiest ones are; Directory Submissions, Link Exchanges, and Article Submissions.

The first place to start promoting your site to help gain backlinks and get your site indexed is directories. There is a ton of directories on the net that you can add your site to.

When submitting your site make sure and mix up the anchor text that you are using and do not just repeat the same anchor text for each submission. Another tip is to not use your home page for every submission. Some sites will allow you to submit pages other than your homepage, take advantage of these sites and submit your other pages.

There is a tool that automates much of this process for you. I use it for every site I make to help submit my site to directories. The tool is FREE, you can get it at: Directory Submitter and it is a major time saver. It also lists all the major directories by their PageRank, which is my favorite feature.

The second tactic is link exchanges with other website owners. For these you want to focus on sites that are related to yours and that have good PageRank. Just simply email the website owner and ask if they would like to exchange links with your site. You tender to get a higher response rate if you have already placed their link on your site and you reference it in the email.

Lastly, article submissions. Article submissions are very powerful and bring excellent results if done correctly. You always want to submit unique content, never submit an article that isn’t yours or that you already have published on your site. You also want to make sure that you include a Bio section at the end of the article that links to your site with proper anchor text. Most sites will allow three links in your bio, so take advantage of all three.

Below is a list of the top article directories, in my opinion:

http://www.goarticles.com

http://www.buzzle.com

http://www.articledashboard.com

http://www.article99.com

There are many more but that is a good list to start with.

There you have it, start promoting your site.

Free Directory Submitter From Brad Callen

First off, Brad Callen is the MAN! Seriously. There are two tools that I can not go a day without using. They are SEO Elite and Keyword Elite.

Now Brad has given us an easy to use Directory Submitter and it is FREE!

Seriously dude.

Now to make one thing clear, the free version is limited but it is still a great place to get started. Once you see how easy it is with this software you will likely want to upgrade (great marketing tactic for those paying attention) but even if you don’t it is still worth it…because it’s free.

I opted for the full version and it has 1739 directories in it.

Directory submissions are one place that I see so many people not taking advantage of. Granted there is a lot of worthless directories and some that charge crazy fees to get listed. But there is plenty of quality, free directories that you can list your site in and get some backlinks to your site.

There are also some great paid directories also, like http://www.stpt.com

Go grab your free copy of Brad Callen’s Directory Submitter.

Take Advantage of Google’s New Universal Search

Search Engine Optimization No Comments »

I am sure by now you have seen that Google has rolled out their new Universal Search. Many people are freaking out about it, think that they will lose their high rankings.

After going through my own traffic logs I have not seen any instances of my sites losing any of their rankings. Mainly because of the niches I am in do not have much for news or videos.

If you have a top ranking site about Paris Hilton, Politics, Sports or other niches where there is an abundance of breaking news, videos and images then you may lose some rankings.

But for the most part the new Universal Search leaves site owners with a huge opportunity to grab more top rankings by releasing news stories, making videos and such.

Google has laid out numerous ways to take advantage of the new universal search on their blog here.

The easiest way to get started is to put together a news release and submit your site to Google for inclusion in their news results and also use PRWeb and other news outlets.

Also start putting together videos and optimize them for keywords you want to rank for and submit them YouTube and Google Video.

And also do not forget to make sure the images on your site have proper file names and when you can include your keywords in the name.

Avoid Getting Websites Deindexed By Google

AdSense Tips, Search Engine Optimization No Comments »

This question comes from Heather and she asks:

“How do you keep the sites from being deindexed?”

Well there are several reasons why your site may get de-indexed by and other . It is possible that you are using duplicate content (articles from article directories like Ezinearticles.com), using scraped content from other sites or you may lack backlinks to your site.

It is well known that Google is trying to clean up it’s search results and get rid of crappy, non-value adding sites. So how do you make sure your site doesn’t end up in the deindexed trash?

It’s really simpler than you think. Always make sure that you are building sites that are unique, offer value to your visitors and make sure to always use original content. You used to be able to go to article directories and grab a handful of articles and then use them to populate your site. Well, those days are over. You need to take the time to write your own articles and make sure they are something that someone would actually want to read!

You also want to make sure you are continually getting more links back to your site. You can make a site with all 100% unique content, but if you do not have any links pointing to your site you will suffer. You may not get deindexed by Google, but you surely won’t be seeing much traffic.

I good way to see what Google thinks of your site is to check how many of your pages are in the supplement index. To do this just go to Google and do a search for:

site:www.yourdomain.com.

Scroll through the results and look at the URL listed. If you see…

www.yourdomain.com - Supplemental Result

Than you have some work to do. Supplement results will still rank in some cases but they are basically second class citizens in Google’s mind.

To help get out of the supplement index and stop your site from being deindexed you need to get more links back to your site. And not just links to your homepage but also to your interior pages. And, of course, make sure your pages are original content.

It can be hard work but if you want a shortcut take a look at Article Underground. They offer 400 articles a month (you still need to modify them, but it is much easier than starting from scratch) AND you get to use their 22 announcement blogs to gain easy back links to your site. Their blogs are PageRank 5, 6 and even 7! One membership basically kills two birds with one stone! Go check out Article Underground now.

So remember to avoid getting website deindexed by Google make sure and use unique content and keep getting more links to your sites. It’s that easy!
