Useful information and I agree with the advice to test. I found it useful to insert ads after the first paragraph in the article with no indent. It looks less 'spammy' and allows visitors to get a feel of the content before clicking and ad and being redirected. The moment I set the same ad to the left or right, my CTR dropped.
